Our Story

Mediocre Threads was born from a band, a baby, and a desperate need to do something with my hands after 11pm.

I'm a musician. I've played guitar my whole life, toured with bands, and spent more nights on a stage in a bar than I can count. When my band needed merch, I started making it. Simple enough.

But then something weird happened. I got kind of obsessed with it.

Not just slapping a logo on a shirt — actually designing things. Taking a dumb joke, a thing I find funny at 2am, a reference only a specific kind of person would catch, and turning it into something you could wear in public. Mostly to see if anyone else thought it was as funny as I did.

Turns out, some of you are just as weird as me.

The Slightly More Honest Version

I'm a Minnesota musician, a new dad, and a guy who still listens to pop punk in the car like it's 2004. My humor runs toward the childish end of the spectrum. I think dick jokes are timeless. I believe Minnesota Nice is a real thing (but something that is best described as Minnesota Passive-Aggressive).

Mediocre Threads is basically everything I love in shirt form — music, Minnesota, dumb jokes, kids stuff for babies whose parents have questionable taste, and the general experience of being a functioning adult who doesn't take himself too seriously.

It started as band merch. It turned into a side project. It became the thing I do instead of staring at my phone until midnight.

Low Expectations. Solid Results.

We're not trying to be the next big streetwear brand. We're not going to tell you our shirts will change your life or align your chakras.

They're just good shirts with jokes on them. Made for people who know exactly who they are and find that person pretty funny.

If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.

Got a Dumb Idea for a Shirt?

Seriously, if you have an inside joke, a stupid bit, or something that makes your friend group lose it every time — send it my way. I can't promise I'll make everything, but I read every message and if it makes me laugh, there's a good chance it ends up on a shirt.
